10 Claude Use Cases for Admins, Red Team Agent: Native Pen Testing Coming

From the curator, Grzegorz Skaruz: It's already Tuesday evening here in Poland, but I made it in time. Another week, another pile of Salesforce news to sort through. Read the whole note

It's already Tuesday evening here in Poland, but I made it in time. Another week, another pile of Salesforce news to sort through. This edition leans heavy on AI, no surprise there. Claude keeps popping up everywhere, including some genuinely useful ways admins can start using it daily (with the usual caveat: don't blindly trust what it spits out). Then there's the native Red Team Agent Salesforce announced at Dreamforce, which could finally make penetration testing less of a luxury for orgs that never had the budget for it. Winter '27 is live too, and it's not one flashy headline feature this time but a bunch of smaller wins across data, security, and Flow Builder worth sharing with your team. And if you're using MCP or building AI agents, you'll want to know Salesforce is about to start charging for that access through Flex Credits. Worth understanding before November. Dig in below.

The illusion of the "overnight" 30-person agency: The Salesforce consulting boom.

Noticing a flood of "overnight" 30-person Salesforce agencies popping up lately - basically anyone with a laptop and a few certs partners with an offshore team and suddenly markets themselves as a big enterprise player. Low barrier to entry, high demand, zero inventory - easy to fake scale. Question is what's really going on behind the curtain: are these built on tight AE relationships feeding leads, or just clever white-labeling of offshore dev teams? And when overhead, talent retention, and margin wars catch up, how do these "accidental business owners" actually survive? Looking for input from anyone who's scaled a consultancy past the founder stage.

A few things I learned while connecting Claude to Salesforce Hosted MCP

Setting up a Salesforce Hosted MCP Server with Claude turned out pretty simple once the OAuth settings made sense. Key takeaways: mcp_api gives the client access to Hosted MCP, refresh_token/offline_access keeps the connection alive, JWT just changes the access-token format (no extra permissions), "named user" means Claude acts with the permissions of whoever authorized it, and the callback URL needs to match exactly. A full walkthrough got made since some of the terms took a while to figure out - shared here in case it saves someone else a few tabs and a confused Google search: https://youtu.be/_Mm2f9L-SQU

Salesforce is going to charge for their hosted MCP with Flex Credits

Starting in November, Salesforce is rolling out "Headless Toolkit," which means every agent (including anything using MCP or APIs) has to be registered with its own identity instead of riding on a user's login. Once registered, those agent actions get tracked as "Headless Platform Interactions" and billed through Flex Credits - pricing isn't locked in yet, it's TBA, but it's coming. New customers get 3 months to register agents after it launches, existing customers do it at renewal. Sandboxes/dev orgs are exempt from billing, only production counts. Someone in the comments raised a good point - this basically kills individual user-level OAuth for hosted MCP, since interactions now have to go through an "agent" service account instead.
